As easyHotel Cardiff celebrates its five‑year anniversary, we caught up with Shannon, Hotel Manager, to reflect on her journey with easyHotel, the team behind the hotel’s success, and what she’s most proud of along the way.
Can you talk us through your journey from joining easyHotel in Liverpool to becoming Hotel Manager in Cardiff?
I joined easyHotel in Liverpool while studying at university, working part time as a team member. I quickly found a passion for hospitality and progressed into Team Leader and then Assistant Hotel Manager roles. I later stepped into an Acting Hotel Manager role, supporting hotels across Liverpool and Manchester, which helped develop my leadership experience. I returned to easyHotel as Hotel Manager in Cardiff, where I’ve now been for three years, and I’m proud to have grown from a part‑time role into leading my own hotel.
What have been the key moments or milestones in your time with easyHotel?
Being part of a business that has grown and evolved over time has been a key part of my journey. Gaining experience across front of house, operations and leadership has really shaped how I approach my role today. I’m especially proud of the people side of my role, supporting team members as they grow and progress in their careers, including several who have gone on to become Hotel Managers themselves.
Can you tell us about the team at Cardiff and how it’s evolved over the years?
The team at Cardiff has always been at the heart of what makes the hotel special. Over the years, it has grown in experience and diversity, while staying united by a shared commitment to genuine hospitality. Many team members have been with us for years, bringing consistency and a strong sense of community, alongside new colleagues who add fresh ideas and energy. What’s remained constant is our supportive culture, where people are encouraged to grow and take pride in what they do.
What makes the team work so well together day to day?
It comes down to the people. The team brings natural warmth and positivity and genuinely cares about guests and each other. Our diversity of backgrounds and experiences is valued and helps create a dynamic working environment. Strong communication keeps everyone aligned, while resilience and adaptability help the team thrive in a fast‑paced setting.
What are you most proud of, both personally and as a team?
I’m most proud of the consistently high level of service the team delivers, reflected in strong guest feedback and returning guests. On a personal level, watching people grow in confidence and develop over time has been incredibly rewarding.
