Meet Anne Verton-Dorst!

Hi there! I’m the HR & Learning Manager for the Netherlands and Belgium – a role I’ve grown into over the past three years after starting as an assistant in the HR department as easyHotel. Thanks to the company’s opportunities and some serious learning by doing, I now handle everything from onboarding and HR administration to supporting managers and managing the more complex personnel cases.

Together with the rest of the HR team, I also work on shared projects like improving and automating our HR systems – think Bamboo (our HRIS), Flow (our learning platform), and the new HR Hub on SharePoint. No two days are the same, and that variety is exactly what I love about this job – as much as I love my colleagues.

Outside of work, I’m studying to become an HR Business Partner, and I also serve as the treasurer of the parent council at my kids’ primary school – because yes, I’m also a proud mom of two smart, fun, ginger boys. In my free time, you’ll either find me at the local handball field cheering them on, wandering a bookstore, clearing my head at the beach, or elbow-deep in my fruit and vegetable garden (though I have to admit… the weeds are winning at the moment – sometimes you have to pick your battles!).

I’ve always been a bit of a busy bee - thriving on variety, while seeking moments of calm amidst the chaos. But I haven’t always worked in HR. I started out studying Criminology, then spent ten years in journalism before deciding it was time for a new challenge. That search led me to easyHotel – a place where I could combine my passion for people with a background in communication and analysis. It turned out to be a perfect fit.

Fun fact: I’m a bit of a crazy cat lady – my door tends to stay a little too open. After a few “but otherwise he’ll end up in the shelter…” moments, we now share our home with five cats. All this, while being chronically allergic to them. But hey – love is stronger than sneezes.
